So you’ve read our Before We Begin page in its entirety and want to move forward with your very own custom illustration? That’s AMAZING news! Let’s get started then shall we?

2. Complete the Design Brief
Once you’ve decided on an illustration package and added it to the cart, you will be prompted to fill our our design brief before you purchase. This is where you can tell us all about the ideas you had in mind. Be as detailed as possible! Tell me about the subjects personality, the purpose for the illustration, and any elements, colors or fonts that you’d like to include. If you want a specific hairstyle, outfit, or accessories, send me visuals and describe exactly what you’re looking for. If you’re choosing a detailed background, be sure to describe the location and vibe of the setting.
Sending me photos is pretty much necessary; but written descriptions are just as important. We could even hop on a quick phone call if you prefer talking out your requests as opposed to writing. This is the pre-planning and consultation phase, where the goal is to get me to totally understand your vision.
3. Submit Your Reference Photos
Inspiration pictures are also welcome ;-)
As I mentioned above, photos are an important part of the process. We need to get a good idea of what your loved ones look like and we depend heavily on you to assist us with that. Once you’ve completed your purchase, send us an email with all of your photos to email@example.com. Be sure to reference your order number.
Please make sure the pictures are clear and current…if you chose more than one person, it is perfectly okay to submit multiple pics of each individual. Remember to label the pictures so we’ll know who -is-who.
4. Establish a Timeline
Our custom illustration services are limited and on a first come, first serve basis. With that being said, please email us your desired time frame.
Each illustration takes about 2-3 weeks to complete. A rough draft sketch will be sent to you a week after you’ve submitted your reference photos and received confimiration from us letting you know that you’re on the schedule. During this time, the first round of revisions will take place…you will be able to change the “bones of the illustration”. For example if you want to make a person taller or shorter, add more or less boobage, change hairstyles etc. this would be the time to request those changes. If changes to the “bones” are requested AFTER the revisions were approved, an additional fee will be added to your order.
After you approve the revisions made to the bones, we’ll go in and add color and whatever extra detail is required. The last revisions will be made during this step (ie. make their hair darker, change the shirt color, etc.)

Alas, the wait is finally over and now you have your very own masterpiece! So what comes next? Each order comes with a hi-res digital file that you can use anywhere you’d like as long as it falls within the standard license agreement. Some packages include your choice of cards or art prints (sometimes both) which will be shipped to you within a week after your order has been complete.
