Fabric

I’m not familiar with the different types of fabric, so I kindly ask for your understanding in advance. I’m currently in the process of clearing out my mom’s storage unit, which held much of her life’s work. All the fabric has been carefully stored in double plastic bags and bins to keep it safe. It will take me about a week to go through everything, so we’ll be updating the shop constantly. Please check back often for new updates and more supplies!

Get to Know Ms. James

Peggy Ann James was more than an artist and the best mother on the planet; she was a visionary who brought African heritage to life through her unique creations. From her early days as a child prodigy in Asheville, North Carolina, to founding African Images in Austin, Tx, she dedicated her life to celebrating culture, vitality, and black consciousness.

Her passion for design began in Los Angeles, where she honed her craft at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College and the Barbizon School of Modeling, later creating timeless pieces infused with fabrics inspired by the motherland. Despite facing health challenges, Ms. James earned two Master’s degrees and remained a devoted member of her community, leaving an enduring legacy of strength, creativity, and resilience.

Her story is one of unwavering determination and boundless love for her art, her family, and the cultural narratives she cherished. Through this shop, we celebrate her life and invite you to carry a small piece of her magic into your own.
