Hi there! I’m Tara James, the artist behind By Ms James. Through my work, I celebrate the beauty, complexity, and everyday power of Black life.

I draw inspiration from our culture — our features, our style, our resilience, and the generations that shaped us. My work reflects the images, memories, and moments that define who we are, honoring where we come from while imagining where we’re going.

Through art, illustration, and handmade objects, I create pieces meant to live in our homes and everyday spaces — small reminders of who we are and the stories we carry with us.

At its heart, By Ms James is my love letter to being Black.
